Speaker Details

Bette Curtis is the Owner/Broker of Curtis Real Estate Professionals. Throughout her 33 years of real estate sales, public speaker and instructor, Bette feels her success is based on continuing education. Education and Professional Standards are the basics for being a true professional Realtor. With both experience and education, Bette has been able to give back to her associations with the task of increasing attendance and providing outstanding programs.  Bette served as Chair of the Education Advisory Committee for the California Association of Realtors, Member of the Professional Standards Committee, Member of the Risk Management Committee, appointed to the California Bureau of Real Estate Licensing Task Force and invited to speak at several venues.

Bette believes it is an honor to serve in the Education arena.  Her main passion is Professional Standards. Having served on various Professional Standard Committees, including as an instructor, Invited speaker on Disclosures, Mediator, Arbitrator and Expert Witness in real estate litigation, it is her hope Realtors will increase their knowledge and success based on the NAR Code of Ethics.  The Code of Ethics brings awareness to the public of the high standards expected of all Realtors. Both Education and Professional Standards are the key to professionalism in Real Estate. Bette holds memberships in the National Association of Realtors, California Association of Realtors and Greater San Diego Association of Realtors.

Bette started her real estate success in Vista, California. She and her husband, Edward, built their home in the rural hills of North County San Diego. Bette wanted to be the best of the best in real estate and sought guidance in the NAR’s Code of Ethics. As a Director for the California Association of Realtors since 2009, she sought additional expertise as a CAR Certified Professional Standards Trainer, Mediator training at Pepperdine School of Law-Strauss Institute, Certified Trainer for the Residential Purchase Agreement, plus Designations as Senior Real Estate Specialist (SRES), NAR/BPO Specialist, CREA - Certified Real Estate Appraiser (non-licensed) and HAFA Certified Distressed Property Expert.

Bette feels the easiest way to teach the NAR Code of Ethics is to associate it with everyday real estate sales and situations. As a real estate salesperson, Bette can associate the every-day events in real estate to the answers that can be found in the NAR Code of Ethics.
