This course satisfies the NAR Fair Housing requirement at 3hr length; 1-3 hours

This session combines The Do’s & Don’ts of Serving Clients with Special Needs with The Other ‘AI’: Accessibility Issues. An estimated 1.3 billion people—16% of the global population—experience a significant disability today, with ambulatory or mobility disabilities being the most common in the U.S. Now more than ever, it’s essential for property managers and real estate professionals to understand the unique challenges faced by individuals with disabilities and to adopt inclusive, responsible practices that prioritize accessibility. In this session, you'll gain practical insights into the dos and don'ts of serving clients with disabilities, examine key considerations in home buying and renting, and learn to identify architectural barriers, navigate ADA regulations, and apply inclusive residential design principles. Through inspiring stories and actionable strategies, you’ll explore how compassion, legal awareness, and thoughtful design can transform lives—and how your work can help create equitable, inclusive living environments for all. 3 hours

It is important to understand the unique challenges facing this segment of the population and to address their needs as home buyers. In this session, you'll examine the key considerations and challenges for individuals purchasing or renting properties, particularly accessibility. You'll learn to identify architectural barriers, understand the legal requirements, and recognize inclusive residential design principles. We'll discuss accessible home features, navigating ADA regulations, and leveraging technology for accessibility. Whether you're a real estate professional, homeowner, or advocate, this session equips you to create more inclusive living environments and empower diverse communities. In 2004, John Young merged his previous work experience in advertising, marketing, sales and management into a career as a REALTOR®. In 2009, his personal and professional life took a transformative turn when he became the parent of a non-verbal daughter with autism.

In 2019, John began speaking on serving clients with special needs and hopes that his presentations inspire a greater understanding that DEI is intended to address issues of accessibility, inclusion, diversity, and equity for ALL individuals.

John brings his passion for helping others to everything he does and strives to make a positive difference in our industry for both clients and fellow realtors. He has shared his message for the National Association of REALTORS® Conference & Expo, the RE/MAX R4 National Convention, the EXPERIENCE RRC “Sell-a-bration”, and the Triple Play (NY, NJ, and PA) Conference, and in 14 states.
