Leadership Compass
Supporting Leaders with Vision, Insight, and Impact. Association staff are key navigators in helping leaders succeed. This session explores how staff can enhance leadership effectiveness by understanding self-perception, recognizing organizational realities, and applying emotional intelligence in interactions with leaders, volunteers, and members. Through interactive exercises — including music, visual arts, and collaborative discussions — participants will practice tools to guide leaders, align vision with reality, foster stronger relationships, and maximize organizational impact. Full Day Session; 1-2 hour modules are available.

As a leader, you play a primary role in the year-over-year achievements of your organization. Empowering your agents and staff to be effective and to thrive means developing their leadership skills, using and improving your own emotional intelligence, and recognizing the differing perceptions and realities within your organization. In this session, you’ll test your perception and compare it to others’; you’ll evaluate how you apply your emotional intelligence to interact with other leaders, staff, and the organization as a whole. Rules, Roles, and Respect: From Etiquette to Effective Governance
Strong governance begins with a clear understanding of the roles, responsibilities, and relationships that shape an effective board. In Rules, Roles, and Respect, we’ll explore the legal and ethical duties of board service — including fiduciary duty, and the duties of loyalty, care, and obedience — and how they translate into daily decision-making.
This course also emphasizes the importance of collaboration: how Directors can foster a productive, respectful working relationship with association staff and with each other. Perception and Reality: Unraveling the Threads
An effective leader hones leadership skills, improves their emotional intelligence and recognizes there are many realities in an organization. One’s own perception and reality may not be the same as another’s perception and reality. We’ll test your perception, compare it to others’, and discuss environmental perceptions and the application of emotional intelligence. How you utilize these skills to relate to Association staff, your Leadership Team, member volunteers and the organization’s membership may define your success. 1-2 hours

Maura Neill, ABR, AHWD, C2EX, CRS, e-PRO, GRI, MRP, PSA, MA, Maura Neill is a second-generation REALTOR® who combines her love for the industry with her passion for education. Before getting into the real estate business in 2001, Maura taught at Florida State University and University of Phoenix.
As an active agent with RE/MAX Around Atlanta, Maura leads her team and works closely with buyers and sellers to navigate the real estate process. She currently serves as Georgia REALTORS® Vice President of Member & Public Services for 2025. Alongside her husband, Ben, Maura runs a thriving real estate business while also serving as a sought-after speaker and instructor.
Her dedication to policy, advocacy, and REALTOR® engagement is evident through her extensive volunteer work at the local, state, and national levels. In 2021, Maura served on the NAR Leadership Team as President Charlie Oppler’s Public and Federal Issues Liaison. A recognized leader in RPAC and advocacy, Maura is a Platinum “R” RPAC investor, a member of the RPAC President’s Circle, and was inducted into the NAR RPAC Hall of Fame at the $50k level in 2022.
Among her numerous accolades are the 2020 CRS National President’s Award and the 2015 Atlanta REALTOR® of the Year honor. Maura is a proud graduate of both the 2009 GAR Leadership Academy and the 2016 NAR Leadership Academy. She is the REALTOR® Party Fundraising Liaison for 2026 by the National Association of REALTORS®.
Residing in Sandy Springs, Georgia, Maura and Ben share their home with their beloved Weimaraner, Luna.
